At first, I was disappointed. The block didn't look like the picture. It was mostly white, and looked like all the white settled to the bottom when the block/slab or whatever was molded.
I got it for a knife for my wife and she didn't like it.
I sawed the block in half lengthwise, making two square pieces, then drilled that. Since this was for a small dagger (Skean Dhu) it worked good becasue I was able to use the picee with the most black, even though one side was whiter. I turned the square piced sideways, putting the white on the back of the knife.
It drills, sands and buffs great. I was able to get a shaped handle for this small dagger in one afternoon using a 1" belt sander and buffing wheel.
I'd ask for personal selection by phone to ensure you get a piece that has color consistency, if they'll do it.
The Inlace acrylester looks like the imitation pearl handle on my wife's Linder Dagger. She loved it.
I think this might work better with matched scales if you want consistency of color on both sides of your knife.
